Have you ever thought:
“I need to sort myself out before I can take action…”
“Once I’m less anxious/more confident/more motivated, then I’ll start…”

Here’s the truth: You don’t need to be “fixed” to start creating change.
In fact, waiting to feel “ready” or “better” often keeps us stuck — and chasing an unrealistic idea of perfection.

Let’s explore where this belief comes from, how it holds you back, and why you’re allowed to begin, just as you are.

The Myth of “Fixed”

Many of us carry the hidden belief that something about us is broken, not enough, or needs to change before we can pursue goals, relationships, healing, or growth.

This belief often comes from:

  • Past experiences of criticism or rejection
  • Societal messages about “success” and self-improvement
  • The idea that struggle means you’re failing
  • Internalised perfectionism or all-or-nothing thinking

But you are not broken. You’re human — and that means you’re always learning, evolving, and navigating challenges. You don’t need to wait for perfect conditions or to “fix” yourself before you take a step forward.

Healing and Action Can Coexist

This is something I see often in my work — people feel they have to “heal everything” before they can take action. But here’s what I’ve learned (and lived):

  • You can be working through anxiety and still take meaningful steps
  • You can feel unsure or afraid, and still move forward
  • You can be healing and growing — at the same time

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need a starting point, support, and a willingness to take small, imperfect actions.

Change Doesn’t Start With Perfection — It Starts With Presence

Real change begins when you:

  • Acknowledge where you are right now
  • Get curious about what’s holding you back
  • Clarify what matters to you
  • Take small, manageable steps in that direction

This is the work I do with clients — whether they’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or navigating inner struggles. You don’t need to be “fixed” — you just need support that meets you where you are.

Tools to Begin Right Now — As You Are

1. Notice the “I’ll start when…” trap

Are you waiting to feel more ready/confident/less anxious before taking action?
👉 Gently challenge that by asking:

“What’s one small step I can take today, even with how I’m feeling?”

2. Shift from Fixing to Caring

Instead of asking, “How do I fix this?” ask:

“What do I need right now to feel supported or grounded?”
This moves you toward self-compassion, not self-criticism.

3. Anchor to Your Values, Not Perfection

Ask:

“What matters to me right now — and what’s one action that aligns with that?”
Let values guide your action, not the illusion of being “ready.”

You’re Enough to Begin

You are not broken.
You are human, capable, and deserving of support and change — even in your messy, uncertain, or struggling moments.

At The Happy Space, I support clients to move from self-doubt to clarity, from overwhelm to action, and from “I have to fix everything” to “I’m allowed to start small — and grow.”

You can begin from exactly where you are — no fixing required.

Let’s explore what’s possible — together.
