How Sessions Work
How we work together
There’s no set formula here. Every session is built around you – how your brain works, what’s helped before (and what hasn’t), and what feels right on the day. That might change from week to week, and that’s completely fine.
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other and working out what you want from our time together. After that, everything gets tailored to you.
What a session actually looks like depends on the day. We meet in Varsity Lakes, and you can settle wherever feels right: across from me on the couch, on the padded rug on the floor or out in the parklands.

Depending on the day, we might be:
- talking through whatever you’ve come in with
- walking and talking in the parklands
- drawing or making something
- playing therapy games (Jenga with prompt cards is a favourite)
- building a practical skill to take away
- going over what came up since last time
- hanging out with Ziggy, my therapy dog in training
Some days talking is the last thing you feel like, or you’re not even sure what you’re feeling or needing. That’s completely okay. Depending on how you learn and process, you’ll usually leave with something to take away in a form that actually works for you.
The reason I work this way is simple: everyone’s brain is different, everyone wants something different, and that shifts day to day. Change tends to happen when the way we work matches who you are. For a lot of people – especially ADHD brains or younger clients – sitting still and talking for a solid hour just doesn’t work. So we don’t force it.
If getting to Varsity Lakes isn’t doable, or you just prefer it, we can also meet online over Zoom.
