Therapy and counselling for anxiety, stress and burnout on the Gold Coast

Lately everything feels like too much. You’re wired but exhausted, snapping at the people you love, lying awake running through it all – and ‘just relax’ stopped working a long time ago.

Therapy is where we slow it down and make sense of what’s actually driving it, so it stops running the show. I bring real clinical depth and training – and because I’m also a coach, we turn that understanding into changes you can actually keep.

Sessions are shaped around you – we might walk and talk through the Varsity Lakes parklands, sit in a calm clinic room, or meet online from wherever you are. We go at your pace, and tailor how we work to what you need.

Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and NDIS, WorkCover, DVA and Victim Assist have no gap fee.

Is this you?

  • You’re anxious, on edge, or can’t switch your mind off
  • You’re burnt out – running on empty but somehow can’t stop
  • Your sleep, focus or mood have taken a hit
  • You’re holding it together for everyone else and quietly fraying
  • You keep pushing through, but it’s catching up with you

You don’t need a diagnosis, or the right words for it yet. You just need somewhere to start.

I work with young people (14+) and adults. Alongside anxiety and burnout, I also support trauma, low mood, big life transitions, and the weight of cultural or family expectations.

What I can help with

Anxiety and overthinking

When your mind won’t switch off and worry is running the show. We work out what keeps the loop going, and how to step out of it.

Burnout and work stress

Running on empty, but somehow you can’t stop. We look at what’s draining you and what needs to change, not just how to cope with it. If work caused it, WorkCover may cover your sessions.

ADHD and neurodivergence

Therapy that works with your brain, not against it. If you’d also like practical, day-to-day strategies, ADHD coaching might suit.

Trauma

At your pace, with safety first. You don’t have to tell the whole story to start feeling better.

Big life changes and expectations

Moves, endings, identity, and the weight of family or cultural expectations.

Therapy for teenagers (14+)

Most advice about teenagers either talks down to them or talks over them. Therapy with me is their own space.

Teens often come because school, motivation or big feelings have got hard, or because they’re anxious, burnt out or feeling different from their friends. For teens with ADHD, diagnosed or suspected, we also work on the practical side: routines, study, screens and getting started on things, in a way that suits how their brain works.

Sessions don’t have to be sitting across a desk. We might do something creative, play a game, sit in the park or go for a walk, whatever makes it easier to talk.

If you’re a parent, you’re welcome to reach out first. We can start with a conversation between you and me, then I work directly with your young person. Teens are eligible for Medicare rebates with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their GP. If you’d like more support yourself, my parenting an ADHD teenager workshop runs on Thursday 19 November.

How I work

I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT-informed and trauma-informed approaches, and experiential and art-based work for when words aren’t enough. What we use depends on you.

What therapy with me is like

There’s no script and no checklist. We start where you are, make sense of what’s really driving things underneath, and go at a pace that feels safe rather than rushed.

Some weeks are for untangling the hard stuff; others are just about catching your breath. Either way, it’s one place where you don’t have to hold it all together, have the right words, or be anything other than exactly where you are.

Some things are easier to say side by side than face to face. We can walk the parklands around the Varsity Lakes Community Resource Centre, or find somewhere quiet to sit.

It suits people who find clinic rooms hard, teenagers, and anyone who thinks better when they’re moving. I keep us somewhere private enough to talk, and if the weather turns, we head inside.

Medicare & funding

Therapy is rebatable through Medicare, and there are other no-gap funding options too.

With a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a GP referral, here’s the short version:

How the rebate works
Book a longer GP appointment and mention you’d like a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Then:

  • A GP referral (or psychiatrist/paediatrician)
  • Up to 10 rebated sessions a calendar year
  • Roughly $110 out of pocket after the rebate
  • No referral? You’re welcome to see me privately
  • NDIS, WorkCover, DVA & Victim Assist – no gap fee
  • Not sure where to start? I’ll help you sort it out

Not sure how to arrange a plan? Reach out – I’m happy to walk you through it.

Questions people ask

Do I need a GP referral to see you?

No. You’re welcome to see me privately. If you’d like Medicare rebates, ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral. That gives you up to 10 rebated sessions a calendar year.

How much will it cost after the Medicare rebate?

Sessions are $225 in person and $200 by telehealth. With a Mental Health Treatment Plan, Medicare pays back up to $115.35 per session, so you’d be roughly $110 out of pocket in person. NDIS, WorkCover, DVA and Victim Assist have no gap fee.

What is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)?

An Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) is a qualified social worker who has completed advanced postgraduate training and demonstrated expertise in mental health assessment and therapeutic support.

AMHSWs are accredited through the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and are recognised by Medicare as specialist mental health clinicians.

In practice, this means I can provide evidence-based mental health therapy under the Better Access initiative, and you may be eligible to claim Medicare rebates with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Accreditation also requires meeting strict professional, ethical, and ongoing training standards.

Is it confidential if we meet outdoors?

Yes – confidentiality still applies to outdoor sessions.

If we happen to encounter someone you know, your privacy is always prioritised. We’ll follow a pre-agreed plan – whether that means pausing, changing direction, or shifting the conversation as needed.

Do you see people under 18?

Yes – I work with young people aged 14 and over, as long as they’re engaging in therapy by choice.

For those under 18, parent or caregiver consent is required before we begin. I’ll usually have a brief conversation with the parent or caregiver first to talk through the process, and from there sessions are guided by the young person’s needs, pace, and best interests.

If you’re a parent wondering whether this might be right for your teenager, the free intro call is a good place to start – you’re welcome to join that call yourself or attend the call on behalf of your child.
