Counselling through WorkCover Queensland

If work has affected your mental health, WorkCover Queensland can pay for counselling. It can start while your claim is still being assessed, and most people don’t know that.

It doesn’t matter what you do for work. Teachers, nurses, first responders, tradies, office workers – if the job has taken a toll, it’s worth asking about.

How it works

  • Lodge a WorkCover claim.
  • See your GP for a work capacity certificate that names the psychological injury.
  • WorkCover can fund counselling while your claim is being assessed.
  • Once your claim is in, I bill WorkCover directly, with no gap fee.
  • If your claim isn’t accepted, you don’t have to pay back sessions you’ve already had.

What it’s like with me

I’m an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, one of the provider types WorkCover funds for mental health treatment. Sessions are a full hour, at Varsity Lakes, outdoors or by telehealth.

We work on what’s actually going on, whether that’s burnout, anxiety, a difficult workplace, or getting ready to go back.

One honest thing. The first six sessions are usually approved straight away. After that, I ask your insurer for more sessions, and I do that paperwork, not you.

Already have a claim, or ready to start? Get in touch and we’ll book your first session. If you’re not sure WorkCover applies to you, ask me that too.

WorkCover Queensland decides claims and what’s funded, not Wild Ground Therapy. Rules can change, so check worksafe.qld.gov.au for current details.
